Intentional Living Communities (ILCs)

Intentional Living Communities (ILCs) offer students an opportunity to live and work closely with fellow students who share similar interests in order to enrich their college residential experience and/or the larger campus community. Theme ideas may range from sustainability, women’s issues, global issues, volunteerism, spirituality, affinity groups, arts, music, academic program, student organizations, etc.

Eligibility & Application Process

Students who are sophomore through senior standing are eligible to apply for ILCs. Fraternity members are not eligible to apply for ILCs.

The application process includes workshops and presentations that are offered to all students across campus between March 16th-18th, ongoing mentorship and development with Area Coordinators to develop and build proposals as a part of a group’s ILC application. All current students will receive email information with links to the workshops.

In the proposals, the Office of Community Living invites students to create purpose statements, learning outcomes, a pathway for how the learning outcomes will positively impact their community and Albion, as well as partnerships with faculty or staff that will support students in the ILCs.

Timeline

Intentional Living Community Applications go live on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Students will have two weeks to build their proposals and submit their applications as a group. ILC Applications are due (electronically) to the Office of Community Living no later than Monday, March 29, 2021 before 5:00 PM. On Wednesday, March 31, 2021 - the Office of Community Living staff notify students about decisions for each application. Depending on the status of each application, students will either be able to secure their ILC group or plan to apply for the next Room Selection phase.

If your assignment does change you will be notified via email. Students may be asked to consolidate or move to new housing arrangements based on quarantine and isolation needs.
