Mitchell Towers

The Basics

Mitchell Towers is located on Mingo Street between Jackson and Porter Streets. Mitchell is a suite-style residence hall, meaning two double-occupancy rooms are connected by a bathroom (four people share a bathroom). Mitchell Towers has four floors per tower, and there are two towers within the entire complex. This residence hall houses 233 sophomore to senior-status students. Mitchell is a community-centered building. Each tower is designed in a large circle of rooms with the floor's common areas located in the center and the rooms lining the perimeter. The two towers are connected by a common entrance on the first floor.

Room Furnishings

Per Student:

• XL twin size bed (80” x 36”)
• May be bunked or placed as individuals
• Desk and desk chair
• Bookcase/shelf
• Closet
• Chest of drawers (three-drawer unit)

Per Room:

• Cable TV hookup
• Mini blinds

Building your own loft is prohibited. All college furniture must remain in the room throughout the entire academic year.

Board Plan

Students in Mitchell Towers are required to select 1 of 3 Residence Hall Block Plans. Please see the Dining Services page for more information.

Residents are responsible for the housekeeping of their individual rooms and suite bathrooms. Albion College cleans other common areas (lounges, public restrooms, kitchenettes, etc.).

Internet Access

Mitchell Towers has wireless access throughout the building. Wired connections are available upon request (submit work order request to the Helpdesk to be connected).

Key Access

Mitchell Towers is set up with a card system that allows students to use their Albion1Card as a key to their residential building as well as their individual room.

Community Living Staff

Area Coordinator (AC)

• A full-time professional staff member hired through the Office of Community Living lives on the first floor of Mitchell Towers year round.
• Mitchell Towers AC also oversees Fiske House, Ingham Hall, Dean Hall, Munger, Munger Annex and Apartments.

Resident Assistant (RA)

• An upper-class student leader hired through the Office of Community Living
• Each floor houses one RA (RA to student ratio 1:32)

Smoking Policy

Mitchell Towers is a smoke-free facility. For more information about our Smoking Policy, please see page 82 in our 2017-2018 Student Handbook.

Emergency Telephone Locations

Mitchell Towers has four emergency telephone locations that are direct lines to Campus Safety:

1. East exterior door (Mingo street side of North tower) – indicated by a blue light
2. West center foyer
3. Inside the elevator of each tower (student access only during opening & closing)

Room Sign Up Requirements

Students interested in living in Mitchell must apply in groups of four (same gender) during the Suite phase of the Room Selection Process.
