Burns Street Apartments

The Basics

Burns Street Apartments are College-owned apartments for junior- and senior-level students. Located at the corner of Clark and Burns streets, these apartments house 46 students (gender-specific) with two people to an apartment. There are a total of 15 standard apartments (one-bedroom, one-bathroom) and eight efficiency (studio) apartments.

Room Furnishings

Per Student:

  • XL twin size bed (80” x 36”)
  • May be bunked or placed as individuals
  • Desk and desk chair
  • Bookcase/shelf
  • Chest of drawers (three-drawer unit)

Per Room:

  • Cable TV hookup
  • Mini blinds
  • Carpet

Building your own loft is prohibited. All college furniture must remain in the room/apartment throughout the entire academic year.

Board Plan

Students in Burns Street Apartments are not required to be on a College Board Plan. However, students may purchase a College Board Plan if desired. Please see Dining Services for more information.

Per Apartment:

  • Carpeted living/dining room
  • Mini blinds
  • Cable TV hookup
  • Furnished living room
    • Two pieces of lounge furniture (loveseat, chairs) and a coffee table
  • Dining room table and chairs
  • Full kitchen
    • Stove
    • Sink with garbage disposal
    • Refrigerator

Laundry Machines:

  • Two washers and two dryers (free of charge)
  • Located in Building 1220

Residents are responsible for the housekeeping in their individual apartments. Students need to bring their own cookware, dishware, and silverware.

Internet Access

Wireless access is only available in the common areas of the apartment. All student rooms have active, wired ports.

Community Living  Staff

Area Coordinator (AC)

  • A full time professional staff member hired through the Office of Community Living.
  • Burns Street Apartments AC resides on the first floor of Mitchell Towers and oversees Mitchell Towers, Fiske House, Ingham Hall, Dean Hall, Munger, Munger Annex, and Apartments.

Key Access

Burns Street Apartments are set up with a card system that allows students to use their Albion1Card as a key to their residential building as well as their individual apartment.

Smoking Policy

Burns Street Apartments is a smoke-free facility. For more information about our Smoking Policy, please see page 82 in our 2017-2018 Student Handbook.

Emergency Telephone

Burns Street Apartments have four emergency telephones that are direct lines to Campus Safety:

  1. North exterior door of 1220 (Burns Street Side)
  2. South exterior door of 1222
  3. North exterior door of 1224 (Burns Street Side)
  4. South exterior door of 1226

Room Sign Up Requirements

Students interested in living in Burns Street Apartments must apply in groups of two (same gender) during Apartment phase of the Room Selection Process.
