Students and Families are invited to join President Johnson and Dean Wright this Thursday, August 6, at 7 PM EST for a virtual meeting. During the meeting, they will share the latest information about Albion’s plan for fall and there will also be an opportunity to have your questions answered.
There is still time to register. Visit albion.edu/fall-meeting to register now. Registration will close at 10 AM EST Thursday, August 6. After you register, you will receive an email with instructions on how to join the meeting. A recording of the meeting will be shared with everyone who registered, so we encourage you to sign up, even if you can not attend.
Just a reminder, the College has created a new website called Together Safely in the Fall. This site features a collection of information and resources detailing the approach the College is taking to have students return to campus safely. Important posts describing the process of moving back to campus and residential expectations can be found under Student Life, and information about classes and the learning experience are under the heading of Academics. Heath and Wellness information is also posted on the site along with the Comprehensive Public Initiative, and continuing Admission information.
An overview schedule for the Albion-O Fall orientation program has been posted on the Albion-O website. The schedule provides a summary of programming for each day, starting with pre-orientation move-in days (August 12 or 13) and leading up to the first day of class on August 24. First-Year Students will receive both a detailed printed and electronic schedule upon arrival to campus. Transfer students will receive an electronic copy on August 12, as well as any new students who are commuting to campus. To provide flexibility, each morning during the Albion-O program, new students will be emailed an electronic Albion-O Schedule for the day. This daily schedule will serve as a reminder of the day’s events and will provide any campus updates that might occur during the time students move in until the start of academic classes.
Facilities and Residential Life have been hard at work updating, painting and preparing the Residence Halls and Apartments for new students to move-in. Both departments want to make sure that students’ living spaces are ready for students to occupy. One major upgrade, upon arrival, students will find brand new mattresses, awaiting to be opened!
Here are some additional details related to preparations made for this fall.
As your family prepares to join our Albion College Family and your student prepares to move on campus, we know that this transition can be both exciting and challenging all at the same time. To assist during this time, we have put together a Family Transitions Booklet with conversation starters and things to think about as you prepare for the start of the semester and support your student from a distance.
