Zach Fischer has brought his lifelong love of acting to Albion College and hopes to show students, through his experience in the rough-and-tumble industry, that doing good work is often its own reward.

Opened in 1975, The Ray Herrick Center for Speech and Theatre was "one of the reasons I was happy to come here," says professor emeritus Royal Ward. "The whole building was pretty state of the art," and having a main theatre and a black box "was fairly new back then." The venerable place still has plenty of life left in it and celebrates its 40th anniversary with its first production of the season, Shakespeare in Hollywood (left), running Thursday through Sunday, October 1-4.

In Lysistrata, Theatre Presents New Skirmish in Battle of Sexes

The classic comedy Lysistrata gets a brand-new treatment in an Albion College Theatre Department production, rearranged by professor Bob Starko. The play runs Thursday, April 9 through Saturday, April 11 at 8 p.m. in the College's Herrick Theatre. A Sunday, April 12 matinee begins at 2 p.m.
