A world premiere by playwright Sean Michael Welch, the comedy Thread of the Warp will be on stage at Albion College from November 20-23 in the Herrick Theatre, located within the Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The play begins at 8 p.m. Thursday the 20th through Saturday the 22nd, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday the 23rd.
Thread traces the travails of high schooler Jacob Bloom, whose mother begins a campaign to muzzle his favorite rock star. Trying to survive in a world that doesn't make sense to him, Jacob struggles with fixing problems he didn't create.
Currently serving as artist-in-residence with Albion College's Department of Theatre, Welch was awarded the 1999 Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival John Cauble Short Play Award and won the 2000 KC/ACTF Region III Ten-Minute Play Competition. His award-winning Earl the Vampire was performed at Albion in 2012.
