Theatre Stages '25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee'

Life meets art meets an evening of fun as Albion College Theatre opens 2012-13 with "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." This unique and award-winning musical runs Wednesday, October 10 through Friday, October 12, each night beginning at 8 p.m. A 2 p.m. matinee is presented on Sunday, October 14. All performances are in the Herrick Theatre, located in the College's Dow Recreation Complex.

The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally-quirky grown-ups. The show may also feature audience members chosen at random to compete in the Bee.

The 2005 Broadway production was nominated for six Tony Awards, winning two, including Best Book.

"Putnam County Spelling Bee" contains some adult language and content and is recommended for ages 13 and older. Tickets for these performances are $3. For more information or to make reservations from off-campus, please call 517-629-0344 or e-mail .
