Albion College is partnering with Western Michigan University to offer undergraduates majoring in political science and religious studies an opportunity to get a jump on their master’s degree. Albion students in these two majors can begin graduate study as much as two full semesters faster thanks to the College’s new “4+1” agreement with Western Michigan launching this fall.

Professor and UN Expert Carrie Booth Walling Assesses the Institution at 75

The United Nations is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year and Carrie Booth Walling, an Albion College political science professor and longtime observer of the UN, remains hopeful that more anniversaries will follow for the often besieged organization. "I'm cautiously optimistic," she says, adding, "It depends on the world’s people and if they value that institution, and if member nations generate more solidarity."

Carrie Booth Walling in The New York Times: Dominican Republic Can Help UN Security Council Take Charge in Pandemic
In a New York Times op-ed co-written with Kathryn Sikkink of the Harvard Kennedy School, Albion College political science professor Carrie Booth Walling (left) wrote that it's time for the United Nations Security Council to rise to the pandemic crisis and look to the Dominican Republic, which currently holds the UNSC presidency, as a global leader. They write that a decisive statement calling for working together can make all the difference: it would legitimize recent General Assembly decisions, reinforce the authority of the secretary-general, and strengthen the efforts of specialized UN agencies to save lives.
