First Two Albion Students Selected for National Intercollegiate Honors Band

Earlier this spring, music students Grace Talaski, ’17, and Will Anderson, ’19, became the first two Albion students ever accepted to the College Band Directors National Association Intercollegiate Honors Band. The pair spent three days in Kansas City, Missouri, attending the national conference and performing with 60 other musicians chosen from small-college programs nationwide.

Alumni Conduct High School Honor Choirs at Michigan Music Conference

On January 23 at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids, two Albion alumni conducted statewide high school honor choir concerts before a packed house of more than 2,000 in DeVos Performance Hall. Associate Professor Clayton Parr, '80 (far left), and Wendee Wolf-Schlarf, '83, who teaches in the Traverse City Public Schools, were selected by a statewide ballot of their vocal music teaching colleagues across the state of Michigan.

Competitors, Alumni Gather for College Piano Festival
Among thousands of similar events worldwide, Albion's International Piano Festival stands out for its focus on beginning and intermediate young players. And this year the festival is even more distinctly "Albion." Its opening concert, on October 28, features four early graduates of music professor David Abbott and adjunct instructor Lia Jensen-Abbott's program.
