While the U.S. Department of Agriculture has tried to simplify nutritional information, with resources providing a visual of what healthy servings of food should look like on a plate, research conducted by Albion biology major and exercise science minor Emily Werner, '14, has found that knowledge of dietary guidelines among the college-age population is far from where it should be.

Anthony Moon, ’13, is starting his career in professional baseball this spring, though it’s a different path than what he may have imagined as a young player growing up near Kalamazoo. The athletic training graduate is working with 160 New York Yankees minor leaguers at spring training in Florida and will work as an athletic trainer for the Class A Staten Island Yankees when the season begins.

Jalyn Ingalls created an individualized major at Albion College to merge her interests in management and kinesiology. Now in her senior year, the Ellsworth, Mich., native is bringing the academic disciplines together as the research for her thesis examines whether she can develop leaders with the combination of small group training and practical experience. “The question is what it’s going to take to get kids to be physically active,” Ingalls said.

Albion College senior Lauren Rao is accustomed to being on the go. After all, she juggled the demands of being a varsity diver, singing with the a capella group Bella Voce, and being a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority in addition to the hundreds of clinical hours needed to complete her athletic training major.
