Cox, '16, Empowers Customers with Info as Consumers Energy Intern

A communication studies major at Albion College, Thomas Cox, ’16, used his summer internship with Consumers Energy to learn more about customer service. The senior from Parma, Mich., worked at the utility’s Jackson headquarters and compiled data for a daily report about the operation of smart meters, which are designed to give customers the opportunity to go online to check energy usage, compare bills to previous months, and compare their bills to those of other customers in their area.

Goal! Micunek, '15, Fulfills One in Brazil
Charles Micunek, '15, a defensive anchor for the Albion men's soccer team, joined a group of NCAA Division III student-athletes on a tour of Brazil in early June, just ahead of the start of the World Cup. Representing the U.S. in international competition "was one of the best feelings of my entire life when I put the jersey on," said the Granger, Ind., native, who is pursuing communication studies and business and organizations. "To fulfill my goal at a scale I could play at—for my talent level—was something I had dreamed about. … To represent your country, to be an ambassador, to show we have a love for the sport [Brazilians] love so much is a beautiful thing." Castellanos, '15, Finds New 'Family' in Chicago Center Internship

Miss Indiana USA Mekayla Diehl, ’11, Prepares for Big Stage

If the six months since Mekayla Diehl, ’11, was crowned Miss Indiana USA have been a whirlwind, she can only imagine what her lifestyle will be like if she successfully completes her quest of becoming the first Native American and Hoosier to be proclaimed Miss USA. The Albion communications studies graduate will vie for the crown live on NBC, Sunday, June 8, from 8-11 p.m. ET.
