Chesapeake Bay is one of the largest, most productive and most threatened estuaries in the country. We visited it in 2003 and returned determined to spend more time on the bay itself, and hoping for better weather. We spent time in the watershed, mostly along the Susquehanna River and on the Bay itself. The highlight was three nights spent at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Education Center on Smith Island.
