Description of Course:
This course will cover continuing challenges within the field of dance. Topics will include: building audiences for live art, keeping up with the digital age, increasing value for the arts when economy demands cuts, exploring the role of the arts in education, the emphasis on 'meaning' within concert dance, and more. No Dance experience necessary to take the class.

Suggested Reading:
Getting What You Came For: A Smart Student's Guide to Earning a Master's or a Ph.D., Robert L. Peters. Chapters 15, 16, 18 (available in the Honors Center.)
Colloquy Goal:
To come up with a thesis topic and thesis advisor by the end of the semester and to begin preliminary research on this topic.
Evaluation:
The course will be graded on a credit/no credit basis. Credit will be given to all students who complete the spirit of the assignments below and keep a clear record of their progress in developing a thesis proposal by keeping a written journal
