Physics Professor Howard Pettersen Passes Away

Physics emeritus professor Howard Pettersen, aged 91, passed away February 17, in Madison, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife, Ginny, a former staff member in the Art and Art History Department, their three daughters and four grandchildren. A memorial service will take place March 2 in Madison.

Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Explains the 'Origin of Elements'
Where did the stuff everything is made of, come from? A for-the-public explanation of the origin of chemical elements comes to Albion, as Albion College welcomes physicist Wick Haxton Wednesday, October 24, at 7 p.m. in the Norris Science Center Towsley Hall. Haxton's presentation to Albion is sponsored by the national Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar program, intended to bring the country's top scholars into public forums.

Observatory Opens for International Moon Night
The Albion community is invited to enjoy "International Observe the Moon Night" Saturday, September 22, at Albion College's Science Complex Observatory, located at the corner of East Michigan and Hannah Streets in Albion. Weather permitting, the telescope atop Palenske Hall will be open to the public from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
