Studying Abroad, Makenzie Frederickson, '18, Checks In From Spain

"I did not expect that I would gain another family here in Spain," says Makenzie Frederickson, '18, a Spanish and accounting major who is studying this semester in Alicante, Spain. "Being immersed in a new culture is an amazing way to learn more about yourself, others, and gain perspective," says the native of Lowell, Mich., who is a defender on the Albion women's lacrosse team and a three-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Honor Roll student.

Guenin-Lelle's Historical Study of New Orleans Is All Relative

The history of New Orleans has long fascinated Albion College French professor Dianne Guenin-Lelle. After all, she was born and raised there, and lived there for the better part of 30 years. Her recent book, The Story of French New Orleans: History of a Creole City, describes the fractious, diverse, unusual history of the city and how, in many ways, it is so different from most other American cities. And during her research, she came across an unexpected connection.
