Trip to Smithsonian African American Museum Opening an 'Amazing' Experience

Part of a large contingent from Albion College and the City of Albion to visit Washington, D.C., Sept. 23-25 to celebrate the opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Albion College students, staff and faculty, in cooperation with the Albion NAACP, took a bus trip to the just-opened Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., and the event was unforgettable and emotional.

Guenin-Lelle's Historical Study of New Orleans Is All Relative

Dianne Guenin-Lelle, professor of French, Albion College
The history of New Orleans has long fascinated Albion College French professor Dianne Guenin-Lelle. After all, she was born and raised there, and lived there for the better part of 30 years. Her recent book, The Story of French New Orleans: History of a Creole City, describes the fractious, diverse, unusual history of the city and how, in many ways, it is so different from most other American cities. And during her research, she came across an unexpected connection.

Natalie Anderson, '16, Receives Fulbright Award

Natalie Anderson, '16
During her first year on campus, Albion College's impressive string of Fulbright recipients inspired Natalie Anderson, '16, to pursue her own award. And now, Anderson is joining that list with the recent announcement of her Fulbright U.S. Student Award for 2016-17. "Honestly, I cried with happiness when I found out," said Anderson, who will spend nine months in Mexico as an English instructor. "I have wanted this award for three years, and for it to finally be a reality was overwhelming."

Cross Country and Over an Ocean: Two Runners Answer London's Call

Albion distance runners Mitch Clinton, '16 (left), and Jon Wylie, '17, found a new path to work on their academic and athletic journeys this summer. With cross country and track competitions keeping them busy during the academic year, the Britons waited until summer to journey to London to participate in a study-abroad program sponsored by the University of Rochester.
