Coming to Albion as a visiting Fulbright scholar, Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica (UNA) professor Susana Murillo was delighted by a truly unique experience: playing in the College’s Jazz Ensemble all year. Binda Foundation Supports Next Phase of Education Maymester

The Boundary Crossings program, in which junior-year Albion College students pursuing a teaching career conceive, plan, and teach interdisciplinary subject units to Albion public-school students, received a $15,000 grant to extend the initiative to Marshall High School. Following Albion Public Schools' transition to a K-8 district, the funding allows the successful nine-year-old program to continue to impact the city's high-school-age students.

Education Students Experience Costa Rica Through Practicum
"Teaching lacrosse was a great way to teach English," said Victoria Della Pia, '16, one of four education students who recently did an international practicum in Costa Rica. "Through acting out the lacrosse terms, the students began to understand the English verbs and words. It was a great and fun way to teach two new ideas."

Logan Woods, '14, Receives Fulbright Award

As a middle-school student, history and English education major Logan Woods randomly chose the country of Romania for a social studies project. It's the kind of story that warms a teacher's heart: From that assignment, Woods gained an abiding interest in the country. Now, as the recipient of a 2014-15 Fulbright Student Award, Woods will spend nine months in Romania, teaching English in a school setting.
