MLK Convocation Marks 50th Anniversary of King's Visit to Albion

Cleveland SellersVoorhees College President Cleveland Sellers recalls his relationship with Martin Luther King, Jr., as part of Albion's MLK Convocation and Community Celebration Monday, January 28, at 7 p.m. in the College's Goodrich Chapel.

Albion's 2013 convocation marks the 50th anniversary of King’s visit to Albion in March 1963. This annual College/community convocation honors King’s life and legacy through music, messages, and memories of this outstanding American. Other participants include the Albion Public Schools Choir, United Voices of Albion College, Albion Concert Choir, local clergy, and members of the Albion branch of the NAACP.

Sellers will discuss his involvement with the 1968 Orangeburg Massacre, one of the focal points of the civil rights movement. He will also talk about his work with Martin Luther King, Jr. Sellers has a long history of being a champion of equality, justice, and nonviolent activism.
